This made me think of the Kazakh national Official Glory To The Newborn King Shirt anthem from Borat. I lived in France for ten years. I know it’s Le Royaume Uni (U.K) but I have no idea what gender England Ireland or Scotland is since it’s contracted. I’m guessing they’re all feminine because of thee in the end but if I know for sure. According to Hebrew, it’d be pink because the Hebrew word for “country” is feminine. You’re telling me Venezuela is masculine? As an English speaker, also fluent in ASL, and with some low Spanish skills, I understand completely how nouns can have gender. In English we say “the chair”, but many languages have 2 genders for “the” to agree with the noun’s gender.
Official Glory To The Newborn King Shirt, Tank top, V-neck, Sweatshirt, And Hoodie
But, what seems Official Glory To The Newborn King Shirts so odd to me is that some languages (like French) put the definite article “the” in front of country names in the first place. It sounds so odd to an English speaker to think of saying “The China” or “The France” or “Canada”. So it’s not the gender of the country that’s so weird, it’s putting the word “the” in front of the country that’s so weird. And depending on which “the” you use, you can tell the gender of the country. But why use “the” in front of the country name at all??? It’s not adding any new information, it’s just one of those filler words that languages have that are unnecessary.
